I was born a visual artist, but it took years to excavate her, to find her back again, to nurture her, to raise her up. That's true for many of us -- deep inside we know how profoundly gifted we are, we just cannot seem to access it. This is a big theme of my last novel WATER.

Why do art now? When there's so much chaos, and we're facing such an unstable future, shouldn't we be focusing on more serious matters?

What could be more serious than our souls? Seriously. All of this is happening because of massive global soul loss!

Our souls should be our primary focus.

  • Art allows a range of emotions, rage, fear, hope, compassion. Unlike some careers where you have to take on a I-have-it-all-together role, art allows the mess. God bless the mess. We need to allow ourselves to be messy now more than ever. Solutions are found in the mess.
  • Art brings hope in a world that can feel hopeless. Hope is there for both the artist and the viewer.
  • Art speaks to the soul in a world that has gone soulless. I've been saying to friends lately that when I go into the "real" world, I feel anorexic. I'm starving and no one has any food. When I stay in my soul art place, I feel like I'm at a feast. Art is a feast in a starving world.
  • Art evokes greatness in times that desperately needs the greatest aspects of the human psyche.
  • Art explores depths forcing us to dive into the deep end and leave the surface behind. We need people who feel and live deeply and passionately, now more than ever. Passion transforms.
  • Art can heal and transform the artist and the viewer. Transformation is key now./

For the holidays this year, what if we brought an artist's soul into our homes. What if we raised the vibration? Instead of buying some kind of tech device, what if we invited soul in, through paintings, music, literature?

We cannot complain about the soullessness of our flailing world in one breath and add to that soullessness in another.

Are you interested in soul work that can open the door to your connection to your spirit and wisdom beyond your wildest dreams? I'm launching a new course called The Opening in 2025. Add your name to the growing list by emailing me at [email protected]!

Greetings from the yurt!

A book that resonates with our times, Blue is an ancient tree in an old growth forest whose best friend is 11-year-old mystic Maisie-Grace. They both want to save the forest.

"A girl, a tree, and their fight to be heard."

Hiding who we are, hiding what we believe, playing nice -- hiding truly isn't safe anymore.

BLUE launches with London publisher Collective Ink on January 28, 2025.

Art Coaching with Clarissa

I've had people ask me in the past few years if I'd be willing to coach them in art. At this point, I'm busy finishing my memoir, book coaching, launching my novel, and revamping my career.

I want to recommend artist Clarissa Shanahan as an art coach for all of you who are seeking guidance. I'm with Clarissa in an art group and she's the real thing. She'll help you take your art to the next level while coaching you with compassion through the process.

Contact her directly to set up a free initial consultation.

This is from Clarissa's site:

"We’ll work together to get your most authentic voice speaking in your work. We'll cover technical issues such as mastering your composition, palette, mood, value, tone and texture, mark-making. And you'll get coaching on how to go deep to find more personal sources of inspiration, and guided imagery and sensory exercises to unlock your wildest imagination."
